What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Assistant for Community Recreation Program (Temporary Position) Spring 2025/Summer 2025 position at City of Columbia, MO?
Individual will: be involved in leadership work at an assigned recreational area; will supervise, instruct and participate in games; assist in organizing recreational activities; will responsible for keeping accurate attendance records; be responsible for transporting participants on field trips; provide correct, courteous answers to verbal inquires; and perform other duties as assigned. Employees in this position work under supervision, and their work is subject to frequent inspection and review by supervisory personnel through conferences and attendance reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must: be at least 18 years of age, possess and maintain a valid Missouri Driver’s license; have the desire to work with kids of all ages; be able instruct at-risk/low income children and youth in various recreational activities; be able to plan and organize programs; have knowledge of the principles, rules, materials and equipment required for a variety of recreational activities; have the ability to give routine instructions and resolve disputes with firmness and impartiality; be able to run, jump, bend and stoop to participate in athletic activities or carry supplies; attend mandatory staff meetings; follow dress code policy; have excellent customer service/customer relation skills; have the ability to work independently; and be reliable.

Special Instructions to Applicants
Temporary/Seasonal employees do not qualify for sick, holiday or vacation pay. Pay checks are issued bi-weekly. During the school year, hours will be Monday-Friday 2:30p-7p. Additional hours may be available during the mornings, evenings and weekends.
Hours
Work hours are seasonal and flexible. During summer months, evenings are required during the week. Weekend work is a possibility.
