The purpose of this job is to perform manual work maintaining city transit vehicles, including minor repairs, monitoring fluids, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description
  • Observes safety standards and regulations.


  • Maintains accurate mileage in data system.

  • Checks and maintains fluid levels and ensures vehicles are properly fueled.

  • Cleans and washes transit vehicles and equipment to prepare vehicles for use.

  • Performs routine route maintenance, including removing trash, washing shelters and concrete pads, and mowing and weed eating designated areas.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.


  • 1 year of experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no air brake restriction.

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.

Fiscal Responsibility
  • Position has no fiscal responsibility.


Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered

  • 1 year of experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.

  • Incumbents frequently required to feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, drive, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb/balance.

Starting Salary
$18.60 per hr.
