Job Description Summary

The purpose of this job is to lead work in construction, repair, and maintenance of water distribution infrastructure. Performs heavy physical labor and operates a variety of construction equipment and tools. Installs and maintains water distribution infrastructure programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.   • Leads and coordinates the work of a group of employees; assigns and prioritizes tasks; guides employees to instruct or advise on tasks or assignments.
  • Installs and maintains elements of water distribution infrastructure.
  • Operates heavy equipment, machines, and hand and power tools.
  • Documents work performed using a computer or other electronic device.
  • Provides customer service by informing and updating users on work performed.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No supervisory authority. Work requires providing guidance and training to others. This position may oversee work quality, training, instructing, and work assignments.

  • Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience.
  • Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no airbrake restriction and trailer endorsement.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.
  • Water Distribution System Operator DS III level certification issued by the State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position Knowledge of :

  • Water main repair and installation.
  • Standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment related to water distribution systems.
  • Safety standards and precautions pertaining to the operation and maintenance of a variety of equipment and tools.
  • State and federal drinking water regulations.
  • Common business software applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Calendar, and Google Mail.
  • General office practices and administrative procedures, records management, and administration techniques and procedures.
  • Skill in :

  • Operating and maintaining hand / power tools and motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operating light, medium, and heavy equipment.
  • Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs.
  • Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to :

  • Work from blueprints, plans, and sketches.
  • Effectively plan and delegate the work of others and to train others.

  • Incumbents required to feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, drive, reach with hands / arms, stoop, kneel, climb / balance, operate mechanical equipment, and move up and down from / to sitting position on the floor.
