The incumbent works according to some procedures but decides how or when to do things; work is reviewed regularly by supervisor.The work is considered light in nature and involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy. Excellent physical condition is necessary, as the position requires extensive walking in all weather conditions. The work requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions : balancing, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.Work environment may involve exposure to bright / dim light, extreme heat and / or cold, wet or humid conditions, dusts and pollen, fumes and / or noxious odors, traffic, violence; and is dynamic that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Essential Job Functions Enforces City and University of South Carolina campus parking ordinances and regulations on assigned routes and schedulesIssues parking citations; provides court testimony as requiredMonitors the condition of City parking meters; reports defective meters to appropriate staffPlaces bags over parking meters as requested to prevent usePerforms parking coordination and enforcement work and staffs parking fee gates for special events as requiredMaintains accurate and complete work records and reportsMaintains assigned equipment and vehiclesConducts vehicle searches using tag or license informationContacts tow truck when necessaryReceives and responds to inquiries, complaints and requests for assistance in areas of responsibilityResponds to hostile individualsPerforms general clerical work as required, including but not limited to records and reports, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.Attends meetings, training, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills;Performs other related duties as assigned.
