Job Description Summary

The purpose of this job is to build, deploy, and maintain servers, install upgrades and patches, and perform basic troubleshooting of the city’s Energy Management System (EMS) technology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description

  • Performs patch management on city’s light department infrastructure.
  • Performs physical and electronic access management.
  • Facilitates disaster recovery planning utilizing tape rotation and storage.
  • Creates and maintains procedure documentation, including standard operating procedures.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered Education and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college.
  • Less than 1-year experience in server installation and support.
  • Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position Knowledge of :

  • Network, servers, workstations, hardware, and software.
  • Relevant systems, devices, and equipment.
  • Backup / recovery technology.
  • Policies and procedures.
  • North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards.
  • Skill in :

  • Typing and / or data entry with minimal errors.
  • Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to :

  • Compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results concisely.
  • Apply logic and reasoning to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Create and maintain documentation.
  • Provide high levels of effective customer service.
  • Regularly use a computer, software, phone and related office equipment.
  • Focus on tasks.
  • Pass a Criminal Justice Information Services background check.

  • This position is relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards and is generally sedentary.
  • Incumbents may be required to exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
  • Hours / Days 8am-5pm, M-F Starting Salary $24.94 / hr ($51,867 / annually) Pay Grade 108 Number of Positions Available 1 Deadline to Apply 01 / 11 / 2025 Open Until Filled No Special Instructions to Applicants Must be able to obtain Criminal Justice Information System clearance. Any law enforcement involvement will be reviewed during the clearance process.

    Salary : $24,940 - $51,867
