What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bureau Support Specialist X00 (PART TIME) position at City of Columbus, GA?
Assists in preparing special reports and projects.
Develops and maintains office forms and procedures.
Assists consolidated government department heads and elected officials with resolving problems requiring police services.
Investigate and document citizen complaints.
Reviews reports for accuracy and completeness.
Work in the Training Division, with recruits, at the Range, and in the classroom.
Maintains paperwork, and certification, conducts course of studies, and performs other functions as requested by supervisors within the Columbus Police Department.
Evaluates new open records requests to determine what Department records are being requested and seek clarification from requestors as needed.
Analyze requested records or the expected number and type of records from internal sources and either provide the records to the requester or a reasonable estimate of time for giving records, including an estimate of costs.
Determines whether a request seeks evidence for criminal investigations or cases and communicates with the requester for additional steps in reliable, responsive documents.
Develops and maintains office forms and procedures.
Assists personnel with everyday functions.
Completes administrative assignments that include copying, scanning, and filing paperwork.
Performs other work-related duties in any area assigned by the Chief of Police.
Knowledge of modern principles, practices, and procedures of law enforcement.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
Knowledge of department rules and regulations.
Knowledge of the geography and boundaries of the consolidated government.
Knowledge of specialized functions relevant to the assigned unit.
Skill in the operation of computers and other standard office equipment.
Skill in research, analysis, filing, investigation, planning, and organizational techniques.
Skill in oral and written communication.Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with high school education. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.The work is typically performed intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required :

Lifting - raising objects from lower to higher positions, moving objects side to side, using the upper extremities, and back.
Manual Dexterity - picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.
Pulling - use upper extremities to exert force, haul, or tug.
Pushing - use upper extremities to press against objects with force, or thrust forward, downward, or outward.
Reaching - extending hands or arms in any direction.
Repetitive Motion - substantial movements of wrists, hands, and fingers.
Speaking - expressing ideas with spoken word, conveying detailed, important instructions accurately, and concisely.
