Definition
Key responsibilities include : identifying potential donors, partners and sponsors; negotiating contracts and renewals; managing events; managing strategic relationships using Customer Relationship Management principles; soliciting donations, grants, sponsorships and partnerships; engaging volunteers to support the department's work; tracking performance; and team management.
Pay rate : $45.25
Under administrative direction, is responsible for obtaining and coordinating funding sources, publicity, and / or the marketing of services for the Department; performs related duties as required.

- Serves as advisor to the director and assistant director on activities related to fundraising, corporate financing of projects and programs, and volunteer recruitment;
- Serves as liaison to community support groups, agencies and organizations, and small businesses and corporations on fundraising and in-kind contribution activities;
- Serves as a spokesperson for the department for print and broadcast media; appears on television and radio for interviews and public service announcements;
- Keeps the director and / or assistant director informed, on a timely basis, of all situations that would affect the accomplishment of department goals and objectives;
- Coordinates and oversees all fundraising activities for the department including private donations and contributions, corporate and private sector sponsorships and funding, and federal, state, and other grants; solicits corporate sponsorships for the department;
- Oversees the department's volunteer program including recruitment, selection, and placement of program participants;
- Researches and evaluates publications and documents and makes other contacts as required to identify potential funding sources to the appropriate departmental program;
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of grant applications;
- Writes and / or reviews news releases, public service announcements, and other promotional materials as required;
- Develops, coordinates, and maintains the department's publicity and marketing displays, slides, tapes, publications, and other materials;
- Develops marketing and publicity strategies to promote departmental programs, special events, facilities, social services, and other activities;
- Meets with leaders in the corporate community regarding potential sponsorship and support;
- Supervises other employees engaged in related activities;
May serve in other capacities appropriate to the mission of the Department of Recreation and Parks.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree and three (3) years' experience in grant preparation or management, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, special events coordination, marketing, publicity, public relations, journalism, accounting, or another closely related field.
