JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the Safety & Risk Coordinator position is to manage a cost-effective risk management program through effective budgeting and administration of worker's compensation funds, insurance procurement, risk analysis, and loss control. This is accomplished by managing safety issues that may expose the City of Conroe to litigation or insurance claims; identifying exposures; controlling losses; minimizing exposures; managing injuries and accidents; and working with vendors, employees, and citizens. Provides risk management functions to support City departments for the coordination and administration of various programs to manage and reduce risk to the City of Conroe.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, business, public administration or a related field; and at least three to five years of Human Resources experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements :
Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Knowledge of excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, including the proper use grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and good public speaking.
- Ability to evaluate and monitor insurance programs.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, make competent decisions, handle multiple projects, prioritize and organize work assignments, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure and stress.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required : fingering, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
