What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Patrol - Part Time position at City of Cookeville?
POLICE DEPARTMENT
This position normally works 10 hours per week.
Approximate position hours: 7:15 AM - 8:15 AM & 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM
Job Summary:
Work is performed in directing traffic and assisting children in assigned school zones.
Examples of work performed: insures that the caution lights at the assigned area are functioning; directs traffic as needed to keep the speed and congestion to a minim um; assists children in crossing the street; may be used in emergencies and large-scale special events; performs related work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic traffic laws
Ability to work in high volume traffic situations
Ability to communicate verbally and with hand signals
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions Ability to stand erect in roadway to perform job at assigned times
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the public
Qualifications:
A valid Tennessee driver's license, good vision and hearing are required. High School education or equivalent preferred.
Essential Functions:
Duties involve walking and standing for long periods of time with frequent use of arms. Subjected to adverse climate conditions such as cold, heat, rain, snow. Must have good vision and hearing.
