Hiring rate: $41.56 - $43.95 /hour
Salary range for this position: $41.56 - $51.78/hour.

  • Assists in the administration of several citywide software applications, including Laserfiche, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365.
  • Troubleshoots complex technical problems involving computers, networks, and phone systems.
  • Assists the Network Administrator with network/server administration duties as needed.
  • Assists the IT Technician with setup of desktops, laptops, hardware, software, and mobile devices.
  • Assists with day-to-day help desk tickets and provides escalated help desk support.
  • Manage and maintain the City’s VoIP phone system
  • Conducts ongoing research and recommends ideas to enhance the technology infrastructure throughout the City.
  • Provide end-user training and maintain training documentation to assist IT staff and end-users.
  • Provides effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
  • Maintains positive professional working relationships with all staff levels, other jurisdictions and outside agencies, and the general public.
  • Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned.
To perform the duties of this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in use of various computer software packages, including the latest versions of Windows (desktop and Server), Microsoft 365 suite of applications, including Teams, Onedrive, and SharePoint Online.
  • Maintains positive professional working relationships with all staff levels, other jurisdictions and outside agencies, and the general public.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relay technical procedures to end users in an understandable format that encourages technology usage.
  • Ability to comprehend and create complex procedures.  
  • Ability to perform job functions with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Handles confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with City personnel, external vendors, and the public.
  • Ability to perform duties with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and follow through with tasks.
  • Ability to maintain a service oriented approach to work.
  • Must have the ability to accept constructive criticism in a positive manner, initiating self-development to improve performance.
  • Must strive to promote a cooperative atmosphere in the department and exhibit a positive attitude.
  • Performs essential duties and responsibilities under the working conditions and physical demands described herein.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following:
  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information systems or related technical field 
  • At least three (3) years of experience in technical support or work experience as an IT Specialist may substitute for some course work.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or an equivalent field.
  • 4 years or more in a technical support role.
  • Experience with BCA, CJIS, and PCI Security compliance
  • Experience with any of the following: Microsoft 365, SharePoint collaboration, scripting languages, patch management, application deployment, MDM, document imaging (Laserfiche), VPN and remote access, mobile computing (Panasonic Toughbooks, CradlePoints).
  • Project Management experience is highly desirable.
  • Local government work experience
