The Temporary Maintenance positions begins in April or early May and concludes after the selected candidate has worked a maximum of 180 calendar days. This position will assist in routine maintenance including, general maintenance of park grounds, mowing, planting, and streets repairs (patching/paving roads throughout the city. Experience in plumbing, carpentry, skid-steer loader operation and leadership role preferred. Previous public works maintenance or related field experience required. Must be age 18 or older.
The Parks Ranger position is a great opportunity for someone that enjoys interacting with people and spending time at the athletic fields and parks! You will be assisting with summer recreational activities such as monitoring adult sports and league games, perform general custodial and cleaning duties, locking and unlocking park facilities and performing administrative duties through mid-October. Must be age 18 or older.

Temporary Parks/Streets Maintenance- Performs manual labor and heavy lifting under all weather conditions.
- Assists full-time employees in various maintenance and repair tasks.
- Operates various motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Operate a skid-steer loader for bucket or loading work at the Public Works facility only.
- Drives City vehicles to various job sites.
- Follows all safety requirements of each job task.
- Follows all work direction from full-time employees and supervisors.
- Assists with traffic control.
- Assists residents.
- Reports problems in the community, at the work site, and with concerned residents or employees.
- Cooperates with supervisors and site leaders.
- Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
- Performs other related functions as apparent or delegated.
- Monitors adult sports and league games.
- Manages time and scorekeeping weekly throughout the season.
- Maintains proper care of equipment.
- Performs general custodial, general maintenance and cleaning duties.
- Provides assistance with summer recreational activities including, but not limited to, evening and weekend park rentals, special events, Movie in the Park/Family Fun Night and sport tournaments.
- Provides general security, including locking and unlock park facilities.
- Assists in other special projects or administrative tasks, as assigned.
- Provides effective and respectful customer service to other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations and citizen customers.
- Follows oral and written instructions such as supervisor's work orders and equipment operation manuals.
- Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Performs essential position duties and responsibilities under the working conductions and physical demands described herein.
- Performs other related functions as apparent or delegated.

Parks/Streets Maintenance- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, contractors, agencies and general public.
- Ability to work independently with general guidance from the Public Works Division Supervisor(s).
- Ability to perform duties with tact and discretion.
- Working knowledge of safety requirements for Public Works Maintenance tasks.
- Previous Public Works Maintenance experience.
- Ability to operate various Public Works Maintenance Division equipment.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Must possess an interest and/or knowledge of recreational sports and activities.
- Must have the ability to:
- Work cooperatively with City personnel, external vendors, and the public.
- Perform duties with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Be detail oriented and follow through with tasks.
- Maintain a team and service oriented approach to work.

PARKS/STREETS MAINTENANCE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following: Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to read written and typed instructions such as operating manuals for mechanical equipment. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, etc. Desktop computer application experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following: Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to read written and typed instructions such as operating manuals for mechanical equipment. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, etc. Desktop computer application experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience operating a skid-steer loader. Plumbing, carpentry and painting experience. Leadership role experience.
PARKS RANGER
A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following:
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Current student seeking degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Studies or Management.
