Pay Range: $ 14.00 - $ 14.50/HR DOE

Starting compensation will be determined by experience and training level

Classification: Non-Management, Seasonal Part Time, No Benefits

SEASONAL LIFEGUARD JOB SUMMARY

This position performs general lifeguard duties, teaches swimming lessons, works at the front desk selling pool passes and performs minor maintenance functions at the municipal swimming pool facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Lifeguard at municipal swimming pool.

· Instruct swimming for scheduled lessons.

· Perform general pool and facility maintenance by established standards.

· Sell pool tickets/passes; collect fees, account for and balance daily receipts.

· Housecleaning in and around facility.

· Perform minor first aid on patrons for cuts and scrapes.

· Interact positively in a strong customer services environment, respond to inquiries/complaints from customers, and provide information as appropriate.

· Make initial contact with 911 emergency when directed, remain calm, and give/receive accurate information.

· Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

The following generally describes the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

· Lifesaving and safety practices used in and around the operation/maintenance of public swimming pools.

· Understand and follow oral and written directions.

· Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

· Work courteously and tactfully with customers and employees.

Education & Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Current Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications a plus. Willing to train.

Speaking to exchange information on the telephone or in person. Seeing and hearing to conduct work. Meet lifeguarding qualifications for water rescue, CPR, and first aid. Must be able to occasionally lift 20-pound containers and furniture, service the filtration system valves, climb into pools, and onto lifeguard chairs.

Work Environment:

Outdoor Environment, in and around swimming pools and facilities, in all types of weather conditions, around children, noise, and other distractions.

Hazards:

Accidents which may occur around swimming pools, exposure to pool chemicals, and extended exposure to sunlight
