Under close direction from Division Chief of Safety and Health (HSO), Serve as a volunteerwith a team of clinicians and perform highly responsible and confidential clinical work involvingcrisis intervention, counseling, emotional and psychological support for Fire Fighters, Police Officers, Dispatchers and non-public safety employees. Performs intervention and assessment services for individuals and families. Serve in an advisor role to members of the Peer Support Team. Provide recommendations and any concerns to the Division Chief of Safety and Health (HSO).Provides mobile crisis intervention services. Responds to emergency calls through call out by the HSO or city designee, provides stabilization services, emotional andpsychological support for public safety employees and non-public safety employees

  • Performs intervention and assessment services for public safety employees and non-public safety employees and their family members experiencing a crisis event that requires assistance beyond services typically provided. The crisis may result from a fire, domestic violence, sexual assault, medical emergencies, substance use or misuse, mental health emergencies, grief and loss, self-inflicted injuries, elder care issues, child abuse, neglect, exploitation, etc.
  • Provides emotional support and empathetic / active listening for public safety employees and non-public safety employees and their families experiencing a crisis event;
  • Counsels, advises and seeks to understand members' immediate needs and assists individuals in identifying appropriate resources for additional assistance to fulfill those needs
  • Identifies social and community service agency options and makes appropriaterecommendations to individuals
  • Assist in Coordinating referral services using various resources of community agencies,support groups, and other community-based resources
  • Provides confidential emotional and psychological support to public safety employees and non-public safety employees
  • Can participate in community outreach with approval by Division Chief of Safety and Health (HSO)
  • Periodically review and update resources, etc.
  • Assists and provides input and recommendations of Mental health programs administered.Recommends improvements, assists in implementing changes and objectives
  • Reports concerns directly to the Division Chief of Safety and Health (HSO)
  • Can act as a liaison between the city and numerous social service agencies and community organization boards / councils to analyze needs, listen and respond to specific concerns, identify possible solutions and establish effective working relationships with community representatives with dept approval.
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures
  • Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions. Follows City-wide and all public safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in city and public safety policies and SOG's. Serves as an advisor to the Peer Support Team and provides recommendations. Tasks12 hours of station visits and 8 hours of ride-along per quarterQuarterly CRT meetingsAttend citywide and public safety department functionsParticipate in public safety and non-public safety Mental Health TrainingAvailable for crisis supportServe as an advisor for the Peer Support TeamLicensed in the State of Florida : Clinical Psychologist, LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, Psychiatrist, 3 years' experience direct patient treatment post-licensureCompletion of Clinician Awareness TrainingCompletion of background checkSuccessfully pass panel interviewWork environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safetyprecautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safeworkplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fireand building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
