What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Park Ranger (Part-time) position at City of Coral Springs?
Under general supervision of the Park Ranger I this position is responsible for assisting with patrolling parks, enforcing rules, and City ordinances while maintaining safety and order. Performance is reviewed by conferences, reports, observation of results attained and direct feedback from customer interactions.
Days/Hours: Saturday: 7 AM - 3 PM, Tuesday - Thursday: 6 PM to 10 PM (Subject to Change); schedule will include nights, weekends, holidays.
Prior Customer contact experience preferred. Experience in communicating and dealing with the public. Be able to approach residents and address situations professionally and appropriately. Experience in and/or knowledge of Community Compliance is ideal.
Possess CPR/First Aid and STOP THE BLEED training or obtain certification within six months of hire. Obtain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of hire to be able to write parking tickets.Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g. use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.

- Assists Ranger I with enforcing applicable Parks and Recreation rules and City ordinances by patrolling assigned areas for purposes of safety and order. Reports disorderly individuals and assists police when necessary.
- Supports Ranger I in responding efficiently and effectively to eliminate and reduce dangers which present emergencies. Renders first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or arranges necessary help in emergencies.
- Supports dissemination of information to the general public for programs, specials events, or schedules as appropriate.
- Attends regular meetings with Ranger I and Coral Springs Police Department for debriefings and awareness of issues regarding Parks department.
- Writes clear and concise incident reports and submits them in a timely manner.
- Assists Ranger I with removing patrons from park areas when Lightning alarm sounds.
- Interacts with patrons to verify appropriate use of sports fields and proper facility rental permits.
- Write citations for public violations (i.e. parking, Code, Civil).
- Maintains current knowledge of Parks and Recreations rules and City Ordinances for application to functional areas under charge.
