Pay: $19.29 min to $23.14 mid per hour
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, processes accounts payable transactions and documents in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes accounts payable transactions and documents in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and procedures; processes other accounting transactions as assigned.
- Reviews source documents for validity and accuracy of information, and for compliance to rules and regulations; determines proper handling of accounting and technical transactions within designated limits; reviews, investigates, and corrects document errors.
- Maintains accounting records and associated filing systems; enters data into computer systems; verifies coding and account data, processes transactions, updates accounts and vendor files, compiles documentation, and generates reports.
- Reconciles transactions and accounting activities according to policies; records changes, reconciles and resolves differences; reviews accounting and transaction records, and corrects errors as required.
- Processes accounting and administrative information for special assigned accounts, including credit cards and petty cash.
- Provides information and assistance to employees and others having business with the City; responds to requests for information and attempts to resolve them by researching files and records within the scope of authority; refers matters requiring policy interpretation to supervisor for resolution.
- Reviews, investigates, and resolves customer service issues; provides technical information to City staff as authorized.
- Prepares and mails 1099 forms each year.
- Assists with end of year audit.
- Cross-trains in other Finance Department clerical and accounting functions as needed.
- Responds outside of normally scheduled work hours in response to special events, natural disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents as determined by the City.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and City information.
- Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the City by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
- Cooperates with co-workers professionally to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.
- Has regular, predictable attendance; attendance is a factor in continued employment with the City.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND three years of accounting and computer experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferences:
- Experience in Accounts Payable preferred
- Incode experience preferred
- Must possess a valid Driver License prior to employment. (Must obtain a Texas driver license within 30 days of hire per State law.)
- City organization, operations, policies and procedures

- Performing mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy
- Correcting and updating financial information systems
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with City employees, officials, and representatives from other local, state and Federal agencies
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software, including Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Effective communication, both verbal and written
- Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of five to twenty-five pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
