What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning Coordinator position at City of Corinth?
Pay: $23.43 min to $28.11 mid per hour
Under general supervision, the primary purpose of this position is to help facilitate a high quality development review process and supports the research needs of the Planning and Development Department; assists staff members and customers with Land Development and Zoning applications, performs administrative and procedural duties; provides general Planning information to the public, and researches, compiles, and analyzes data to support both Planning objectives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates and acts as primary point-of-contact for architecture, planning and engineering contractors, and project managers for development projects. Assists businesses and developers in navigating the development process. Intakes plans, communicates with applicants to explain what items are required for the specific application type (zoning, plat, site plan, etc.), answers questions regarding the development process.
- Manages plan review comments and the development process from application, placement on agenda, and consideration for approval. Formulates schedule for item’s placement on agendas. Knows where projects are in the review process and anticipates/plans ahead for carrying out processing and approvals.
- Works with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other agencies, to answer questions related to zoning and development related requirements, codes, specifications, and processes.
- Compiles and analyzes data; assists in the review of development proposals, permit applications, planning and zoning changes, variance requests, and technical documents. Conducts research and compiles data for inclusion in planning-related staff reports.
- Reviews development plans with residents, developers, architects, and engineers.
- Attends development-related meetings as needed or required.
- Provides support in preparation of Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council agenda items.
- Prepares required public hearing notices within specified notice times.
- Responds outside of normally scheduled work hours in response to special events, natural disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents as determined by the City.
- Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values, and goals of the City by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
- Cooperates with co-workers professionally to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.
- Has regular, predictable attendance; attendance is a factor in continued employment with the City.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field; 1 year experience in the Planning field preferred but not required.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

- City policies, procedures, and development codes.
- Organizing prioritizing, tracking, and managing multiple assignments, projects, and tasks.

- Proficiency in Microsoft and mapping programs.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is generally performed in an office environment, but on-site research/field inspections, and filing plats with the County are required and may occur in extreme weather conditions.
- Full manual dexterity and visual acuity are required to process and review detailed plans.
- Ability to carry 25 pounds, bending, stooping, and reaching as needed to file; sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
- May be exposed to hostile or angry customers.
- Walking on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.
- May work evenings during Commission and Council meetings as required.
Salary : $23 - $28
