The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as a Senior Utility Maintenance Technician. At Corona’s Utilities Department, we strive to deliver the best customer service to all of our residents and businesses, with safety and reliability as our top priorities. The Utilities Department is comprised of 5 divisions including: Water, Wastewater, Reclaimed Water, Electric and Solid Waste. We provide a 4/10 work schedule (Monday-Thursday) for most positions and rotating schedules for operations staff. The Application Process
Applications will be accepted until 5:00pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Candidates who successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to in-person oral interviews. Oral interviews will be conducted in-person and are tentatively scheduled for April 29, 2025. The top scoring candidates from the oral interviews will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City. There is currently 1 vacancy for a Senior Utility Maintenance Technician.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan fingerprinting and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience working in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pumping equipment, including valves, pumps, and motors. Utility-related (water and/or wastewater) experience is highly desired.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of employment, a valid California Class “A” Driver’s License with tank and hazmat endorsements, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within 18 months of employment, a valid California State Crane Operator’s Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within 6 months of employment, a valid Forklift Operator’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of a valid Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.
This position is FLSA Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.

The Organization
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.
