What are the responsibilities and job description for the City Secretary position at City of Corsicana?
Job Summary: Provide administrative support to the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager. Performs various assignments that involve work methods in the areas of City Secretary or municipal clerk related functions, including but not limited to, serving as Secretary during City meetings; respond to open records requests; records retention; administration of the property and liability insurance; serve as City elections administrator and conduct City elections and answer citizen inquiries.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear; use hands to operate equipment, tools and controls; reach, stoop, bend and lift; vision abilities required for the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Other Aspects of the Job: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration or a related field. Experience working in Municipal Government, including two years of experience related to the area of work assignment; knowledge and ability to stay abreast of trends and innovations in the fields of Municipal Law, Texas Local Government Code, and Texas Election Law; Texas Registered Municipal Clerk Certification (TRMC) or ability to obtain within 3 years is preferred. Ability to present oral and written complex reports and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, City employees and the public. Must have or have the ability to obtain Notary Public certification. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Punctuality and regular attendance are required. Must satisfactorily complete a one-year probation period.
