The Albany Softball Game Operations oversees the Timber Linn Memorial Park softball complex in Albany, OR connected with the adult slow-pitch softball program.

Program Assistant duties include, but are not limited to, preparing the facility for games, supporting the Site Leaders/Scorekeepers, being a point of contact for Team Managers, settling disputes, providing first aid as needed, and securing the facility at the end of each game night. 

Other Duties: 
Provide assistance in hosting, planning, implementing, promoting and evaluating education classes and special events. Provide assistance for a wide range of duties such as responding to requests for information, hosting programs, assisting customers with registrations and accommodating special needs and with program planning. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

Part-time, casual, non-represented position

Temporary:  May – September 2025, Sunday - Thursday 

Approx. 18-20 hrs/wk depending on program needs

Must meet all qualifications and requirements as listed in the position description.

Assists as a point of contact, answers phones and emails, responds to requests for information, provides requested materials and information for education programs.  Communicates information regarding programs and responds to inquires from the public.
 
Assists with program rosters and registration data entry.
 
Works with Recreation Coordinators and other department staff to create, maintain, promote and coordinate services, programs and events.
 
Assists in the design of a variety of materials to create, maintain, and promote programs and events.
 
Performs other support duties and special projects as assigned.
 
Depending on assigned area operates and drives a motor vehicle and/or equipment safely and legally.
 
Conforms with all safety rules and performs work is a safe manner. Practices safe job-site methods while performing duties. Ensures and promotes a safe environment for activity participants.
 
Acts ethically and honestly; applies ethical standards of behavior to daily work activities and interactions. Builds confidence in the City through own actions.
 
Adheres to all City and Departmental policies.  Performs work in accordance with Council Policies and Municipal Code sections applicable to the position.
 
Delivers excellent customer service to diverse audiences.

Maintains effective work relationships.

Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.
 Education and Experience
Combination of education, training or experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
 
Education or volunteer experience in recreation programming area highly desired.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to be creative, collaborative and committed to developing recreation and arts programs for people of all ages and abilities.
 
Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instruction and to exchange routine information. Basic understanding of simple work processes, methods or equipment. Ability to learn job-related information and techniques.
 
Strong interpersonal problem-solving, organizational skills desired.
 
Effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.  Ability to use conversational skills and courtesy to exchange routine information and provide routine assistance.
 
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment as well as alone at a work-site under supervisory direction while performing duties thoroughly and accurately in accordance with Department policy.
 
Ability to get along well with coworkers and maintain effective work relationships.
 
Special Requirements
Ability to pass a pre-employment background and/or criminal history check

This position requires the ability to work flexible hours. Work overtime and on weekends as needed.
 
First Aid/CPR certification may be required.
