This is a skilled position that performs a variety of manual labor duties in the area of facilities maintenance. Under the direction of the Facilities and Fleet Maintenance Manager and the Facilities Maintenance Lead, this position also assists in coordinating repairs and maintenance done by other City departments and/or contractors. This position will interact with other departments, City staff and will require skills necessary to communicate, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely and professional manner.All required training is paid, including wages, by the City. This includes the commercial driver's license (CDL) and boiler's license.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Take direction for day to day duties from the Facilities Maintenance Lead.Assist in maintaining the following buildings, City Hall/Public Safety, Central Fire Station, Hero Center, Public Works, River Oaks Golf Course, Ice Arena, Engineering & Utilities, park buildings, fire stations and other buildings as assigned. Perform a variety of maintenance repair work requiring skills in the performance of common maintenance activities such as, electrical, plumbing and mechanical operations, building automation systems and general repair. Coordinate, monitor, maintain, and repair all named general City building infrastructures in a timely and professional manner, including; safety/security systems, roofing, windows, doors, foundation, walls, ceilings, flooring, signage, lights/electrical, plumbing, and mechanical. Responsible for weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual inspections and walk-throughs, such as monthly fire extinguisher and emergency lighting checks.Effectively clean floors, windows, toilets, bathrooms, sinks, walls, various surfaces, empty garbage and disinfect areas as assigned.Operate a floor scrubber to clean garage, hallways, shooting range and lunchrooms. Knowledge of and the ability to maintain backup power generator systems.Assist with coordinating work with contractors/service companies that service City Facilities and the equipment within the facilities.Maintain necessary record keeping for contracts, cost estimates and proposals for various building repairs and building systems. Track time and work performed in Pubworks maintenance program.Assist in determining program changes and purchase of new or replacement equipment.Monitor, maintain and coordinate repairs to the HVAC equipment and software in City buildings, including complete mandatory reporting requirements.Assist audit inventory controls such as ordering supplies and verifying discrepancies. Effectively communicate project timelines and anticipated impacts to building occupants in a timely and professional manner.Use the Alerton building automation system to adjust temperature controls, monitor boilers, HVAC and other mechanical equipment at City Facilities.Respond to emergency call outs as required including nights, weekends and holidays, which may include snow plowing.Perform all other necessary duties as apparent or assigned.
