The Seasonal Laborer position is designed to support the maintenance and upkeep of public property throughout Covington. As a Seasonal Laborer, you’ll be responsible for various outdoor tasks aimed at preserving public spaces, ensuring they remain beautiful and functional. Key Responsibilities
- Cutting and trimming lawns in public parks and along roadways
- Pruning trees and shrubs to maintain aesthetic and safety standards
- Cleaning up litter and removing debris from public spaces
- Planting and watering trees to promote a healthy urban environment
- Painting and repairing fences, gates, walls, and sidewalks
- Cleaning drainage ditches, culverts, and alleys to ensure proper water flow
- Sharpening tools and making minor repairs on equipment
- Assisting in the cleaning of swimming pool facilities
- Painting street markings, crosswalks, and other public infrastructure
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a resident of the City of Covington.
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or construction is a plus.
- Ability to operate landscaping tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
