Internship Opportunities Available
Law Clerk
Role Overview
The City Solicitor’s Office is seeking a Law Clerk to assist with legal research, drafting legal documents, and supporting municipal legal operations. Law Clerks will have the opportunity to work directly with city attorneys on various legal matters affecting the City of Covington.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research related to municipal law
- Assist in drafting legal documents and correspondence
- Support the City Solicitor’s office with general administrative tasks
Qualifications & Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a law program (1L or 2L preferred)
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive legal matters
Communications Intern
Role Overview
The Communications Department is looking for a Communications Intern to support the development of content for social media, press releases, and public outreach initiatives. This position is ideal for students passionate about public relations, media relations, and government communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and edit content for city social media platforms and press releases
- Assist with public outreach materials, including newsletters and digital content
- Help monitor media coverage and assist in managing the city’s online presence
Qualifications & Experience:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- Strong writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools
Public Administration Intern
Role Overview
The Public Administration Intern will work with city officials and staff on a variety of administrative and policy tasks. The Public Administration Intern will gain exposure to the inner workings of local government, contributing to research, program development, and data analysis for various city projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in policy research and data collection
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations for city leadership
- Work alongside staff on community outreach programs and city initiatives
Qualifications & Experience:
- Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a graduate level degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive matters
