Job Title: Head Lifeguard

FLSA Status: Seasonal/Part-time

Salary: $19.25 per/hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are intended to be illustrative only and are not inclusive: The Head Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing the safety and well being of all swimmers and visitors to our facility. In addition to lifeguarding duties, the Headguard supervises and leads a team of lifeguards, ensures the pool areas are properly maintained, and helps enforce facility policies and procedures. The position requires excellent leadership, communication, and emergency response skills. Perform regular water safety checks, including monitoring chemical levels, clarity, and cleanliness of the pools. Supervise and provide guidance to a team of lifeguards, ensuring all shifts are covered and lifeguard duties are performed effectively. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:

Knowledge of pool policies, schedules, programs, and procedures. Possess strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations. Knowledge of pool safety regulations, rescue techniques, and lifeguarding protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and maintain working relationships with program participants, fellow employees, and the public.

Mental Demands:

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to relate well with people of all ages. Ability to perform and complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to make independent decisions, solve problems and use good judgment. Ability to maintain composure and act responsibly in stressful situations, such as emergencies, or dissatisfied patrons.

Experience:

One year or multiple summer seasons of work as a lifeguard.

Working Conditions:

Possible adverse weather conditions with prolonged exposure to the sun and pool water. Working in the vicinity of and handling hazardous chemicals. Exposure to blood and other body fluids may occur.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand for long periods of time on concrete decks or on a lifeguard tower (5 feet above deck, 8 feet above water). Ability to perform rescues, first aid and CPR in emergency situations. Ability to swim 300 continuous yards. Ability to lift or move equipment or supplies of50 lbs

Special requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age or have graduated high school or obtained a General Education Degree (GED). Current certifications in American Red Cross CPR, Lifeguarding and First Aid, or ability to obtain by June 1, 2023. Equivalent certifications, as recognized by the State of Colorado will also be accepted. Will be required to successfully pass a post-job offer drug screening and background check.
