Description
The Recreation Associate serves as the primary point of contact for park patrons, delivering outstanding customer service and engaging with visitors. This role involves overseeing park rental facilities and other amenities, ensuring a safe and orderly environment while enforcing regulations as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining clean and safe facilities, executing rental setups, and fostering positive interactions with clients. Additionally, the Recreation Associate assists with maintenance, activities, and special events such as the farmers market and Crystal Frolics. This position plays a vital role in representing the Recreation Department to the public.

1. Knowledge of park and recreation programs and facility offerings; and provides information and direction to the public.
2. Assures the facility or program area is clean and set up correctly before guest or participant arrival; and corrects problems if necessary.
3. Responds to customer service issues by professionally resolving guest or participant needs.
4. Assists with park rentals and programs as a liaison to activities. This could include birthday parties, special events, or pop-up programs.
5. Oversees all assigned areas, often independently, to maintain an organized, clean, and safe facility.
6. Responsible for setting up and taking down specific program equipment, tables, chairs, athletic equipment, etc. Monitors equipment to make sure they are in working order.
7. Informs the general public and program participants on rules and regulations.
8. Reports suspicious or aggressive activity to the police department.
9. Responds to emergencies and report accidents.
10. Writes reports as needed.
11. Makes and places signs (if needed) to aid guests and participants in finding their way.
12. Performs clean-up and simple facility maintenance as needed. Uses appropriate cleaning equipment and chemicals as necessary.
13. Communicates with city staff on areas needing clean-up, repair, or improvement.
14. Responsible for locking up the building at the end of the day and setting up the security system, if applicable.
15. Attends staff meetings and coordinates work schedules with other staff. Ensures a safe and healthy work environment and safely conducts business.
16. Performs other duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be 16 years of age or older.2. Excellent communication and public relations skills.
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Ability to work cooperatively with other employees.
5. Ability to work outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions.
6. Fluent in English; both spoken and written
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
2. 6 months previous customer service experience.
3. CPR and first aid certification.
4. Valid Driver's License.
5. Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, French, Somali, or Oromo language(s)
