Overview
The Parks Maintenance Worker II performs a variety semi-skilled strenuous labor duties assisting in the cleaning, maintenance, care, and repair of parks, playgrounds, facilities, public spaces, and landscaping for the Parks and Recreation Department.
Essential Functions
1 Performs a wide range of semi-skilled strenuous labor for the parks and recreation department; mows and maintains landscaping in public areas, collects and disposes of trash and debris, cleans and maintains playgrounds and equipment, and performs any other maintenance work for the care of facilities and grounds.
2 Loads and unloads tools, construction materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs to be made.

3 Assists in performing pollution and environmental inspection and related field work; supports the Pollution Prevention Program; performs flood and storm debris cleanup.
4 Drives equipment to transport tools, equipment, supplies or material to and from the work sites and locations; cuts grass, removes litter and weeds, cleans floors and facility grounds to maintain upkeep of facility, street medians, and vacant lots removing any hazards and ensuring safety of tenants.
5 Ensures playground and public equipment is in safe and functional order; performs repairs to meet regulations and standards; maintains and monitors sports fields and surrounding areas.
6 Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operating conditions.
7 Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction; handles hazardous or dangerous situations with professionalism and efficiency.
8 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various construction repairs.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience
2 Years in Operating mowers and other lawn equipment maintaining public facilities, lakes, zoo, aquarium, and park grounds; and, collecting garbage/brush, and trimming landscape.
