Overview
The Supervisor-Survey oversees, supports, checks and supervises Survey Division operations and recordation. Provides assistance and oversight to administrative personnel supporting and assisting with City survey work.
Essential Functions
Supervises recordation of survey projects completed by city staff and private surveyors to ensure compliance with state law and city regulations; works with staff to review submittals of Survey Control Drawings for Public Works Bond projects and other City initiatives.
2 Supervises staff of Survey Division to ensure completion of capital and petition projects in an efficient manner; monitors survey vaults and ensures accurate mapping and documentation.
3 Meets and communicates with staff from other city departments and with private citizens to provide information pertaining to surveys and operations; provides research and other assistance to citizens as needed in the Survey Records Vault.
4 Supervises, oversees, and directs reports in developing performance plans for survey staff and related; provides direct reports with annual performance evaluations and supports advertising and hiring of staff.
5 Develops administrative plans for Survey Division projects and scopes of work for private surveying projects contracted by the city; maintains files and organizes survey vault; accurately manages documents and survey records.
6 Creates, prepares, and produces plats used by city departments to effectively complete infrastructure improvements; reviews private sector Subdivision Plat requests for approval of alternate monumentation.
7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of principles of management and personnel administration.
2 Knowledge of City Survey activities,
3 Knowledge of filing and recordation practices.
4 Ability to perform extensive administrative and operational tasks.
5 Ability to supervise survey filing and manage survey vault.
6 Ability to develop work plans and oversee subordinates providing performance feedback and direction.
7 Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
8 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma, GED
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of experience in land surveying, with a proven track record in leading teams, managing surveying projects, and expertise in field procedures, data collection, and mapping techniques.
AND
- Two (2) years must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity.
LICENSES
- Valid State of Texas driver's license
Salary Range
$57,087.47 - $67,765.23
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
