The Fire Facilities Manager oversees, manages, and directs operational activities, maintenance work, contracted projects, installations, and general care of all Fire facilities. Establishes plans and performs moderately complex management.

Essential Functions
1 Manages operational activities of the facilities maintenance and related staff performing services throughout Dallas Fire and Rescue; delegates authority and responsibility for assigned tasks to subordinates; identifies needed areas of change or development and institutes changes to improve operations; plans, implements, coordinates, monitors compliance, and evaluates policies and procedures; reviews and oversees work schedules of others all subordinate levels.
2 Establishes short-, mid- and long-term goals and objectives; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; directs evaluation activities, participates in hiring and personnel activities, and monitors payroll and other timecard related issues.
3 Inspects, evaluates, and reviews work completed by crews and employees for quality and safety standards; coordinates improvement and maintenance projects and provides exceptional project management for facilities staff, contractors, and related personnel.
4 Analyzes, evaluates, and ensures production goals are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity; oversees the preparation of and evaluates, implements, and administers the department budget; oversees the planning, development, and operation of special projects or facilities.
5 Manages equipment, inventory, fixed assets and supplies; ensures staff complies with daily facility inspections to ensure proper and safe operation practices are being followed; monitors historical sites and tracks all work completed.
6 Provides quality customer service by communicating effectively with customers and responding to issues or concerns timely and professionally; addresses facility and related requests and ensures the timely and efficient handling of maintenance or repair concerns.
7 Represents the program area at meetings, hearings, trials, conferences, and seminars or on boards, panels, and committees; testifies at hearings, trials, and legislative meetings as appropriate; attends briefings and meetings to remain up to date on codes, regulations, and laws pertaining to facility operations and infrastructure.
8 Performs any and all other trades work as needed or assigned.

1 Thorough knowledge of safety rules and precautions required of the assigned specialization.
2 Thorough knowledge of construction trades and all facets of facility maintenance.
3 Knowledge of human relations and supervision necessary to function as a first or second level supervisor.
4 Ability to plan, assign, train, direct, and evaluate clerical/administrative, trade/technical, or professional employees.
5 Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
6 Ability to read various complex schematic diagrams and blueprints.
7 Ability to develop and implement budget for facilities and associated maintenance work.
8 Ability to handle challenging, emergent, and complex situations.
9 Ability to understand technical terminology of the specialization assigned.
10 Communicating effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of people.
11 Ability to maintain record keeping or work log system.
12 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Education
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, construction management, engineering, or architectural field.
- Four (4) years of experience in building/facility operations, building trades or building maintenance with responsibility for contract and budget administration and procuring building equipment/materials.
- Two (2) years management/supervisory responsibilities (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)
- High school diploma or GED plus eight (8) years of the required experience including two (2) years management/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Associate degree in any field plus six (6) years of the required experience including two (2) years management/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a non-specified field plus six (6) years or the required experience including two (2) years management/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Master's degree (or higher) in a specified field plus two (2) years of the required experience including two (2) years management/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to obtain a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification
- No felony or class A misdemeanor convictions.
- No class B misdemeanor convictions in the last ten (10) years.
- No family violence convictions.
- Cannot currently be on deferred adjudication for any felony, class A misdemeanor or class B misdemeanor charge.
