The City of Dallas is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sanitation Compliance Agent to join our Department of Sanitation. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the city’s solid waste regulations, focusing on maintaining public health, safety, and the
environment. Unlike traditional code enforcement officers, the Sanitation Compliance Agent specializes in assessing administrative fees for non-compliance related to waste management practices, rather than writing citations.
Essential Functions
1 Documenting Violations and Assessing Fees: Actively document and assess administrative fees for various violations including, but not limited to, brush and bulky waste set out violations, recycle contamination, improper set out location/time, overloaded containers, non-containerized waste, and use of unpaid roll carts.
2 Collaboration with Code Enforcement: Work closely with code enforcement officers to address and enforce regulations regarding other solid waste violations (e.g., prohibited items set out like electronics, chemicals, paints, tires, appliances with refrigerants), overgrown vegetation affecting waste collection, and parking issues that impede sanitation services.
3 Alley and Street Assessment: Evaluate alleyways and neighborhood streets for safe and efficient collection services.
4 Identify issues that could inhibit operations and propose solutions or interventions.
5 Property Damage Reviews: Investigate and document property damage claims associated with Sanitation collection vehicles, facilitating resolutions and maintaining community trust.
6 Assistance Programs Coordination: Assist with the enrollment process for the Helping Hands service, which offers walk-up collection for customers with physical disabilities, ensuring accessible and inclusive waste collection services.

7 Performs all other tasks as required or assigned.

2 Ability to assess situations accurately and apply regulations and policies judiciously.
3 Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with the public, colleagues, and other departments.

5 Knowledge of local solid waste regulations and best practices in waste management.
6 Conflict resolution skills to handle disputes and complaints from the public effectively.
7 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- High School diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of in-person customer service experience.
- Associate degree (or higher) in any field will meet the education and experience requirement.
