Job Summary
Supervises a small to medium sized operational unit of non-exempt employees. The functional activities are somewhat complex and have moderate impact on overall operations. This level supervises employees in clerical, administrative, trade, or technical functions that provide services to persons inside or outside the organization. The substance of the positions is non-routine and is semi-skilled or skilled in nature and has a direct impact on the work, office operations, projects, or programs of others in the organization. Job Description
The Supervisor-Events supervises, supports, and oversees all events and special events planning for City departments to ensure compliance with the policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the facilities and its uses.
Essential Functions
1 Supervises and ensures all contractual terms are in compliance with established policies and procedures for events, festivals, sports seasons, parades, and other meetings and conferences; provides guidance and direction for events, productions, educational conferences, training meetings, airport operations, parks usage and sports tournaments and any other special events throughout the City's departments and facilities.
2 Assigns and evaluates logistical and event work to ensure all policies and procedures are followed; directs and coordinates work through coordinators and specialized staff; provides coaching or assistance with challenging situations as needed; implements plans and schedules and determines objectives needing emphasis; recommends or adjusts work priorities, project schedules, resources, and work plans as required.
3 Inspects, reviews, and evaluates different facilities for event usage; monitors spaces for compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; ensures all events are compliant with City Codes and National Fire and Safety Codes.
4 Oversees the planning, organizing and implementing of festivals and special events; supervises and directs set up, equipment use, troubleshooting logistics, and general custodial activities related.
5 Supervises the planning of parking, provision of security, and dissemination of public information to meet the safety needs of clients and patrons; monitors staff coordinating event activities and oversees events to ensure all safety requirements are met.
6 Communicates with staff and clients to keep abreast of details pertaining to upcoming events; checks, approves, and monitors computer databases and reporting systems to expedite logistical services and track event requirements.
7 Estimates personnel needs and assigns work to ensure appropriate coverage for event dates; interviews and makes recommendations for selection of candidates for filling positions or termination; hears and resolves minor complaints from employees, refers serious complaints to higher level managers, and recommends disciplinary actions.
8 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or Event Management, Public Administration, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in event planning and event management preferably in a municipal or government setting.
- One (1) year of lead work/supervisory responsibilities. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)
- Highschool diploma or GED plus seven (7) years of the required experience including one (1) year of leadwork/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Associate degree in any field plus five (5) years of the required experience including one (1) year of leadwork/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specific field plus five (5) of the required experience including one (1) year of leadwork/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Master's degree or higher in a specific field plus one (1) year of the required experience including one (1) year of leadwork/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record.
- May require CPR. AED, First Aid, or other related certifications.
- May require varying shifts including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs as needed.
