Overview
The Supervisor-Tourism, Conventions, and Events supervises, plans, coordinates, and facilitates the special events that occur within the City. Processes applications, manages permits, maintains website information and facilitates effective use of resource to support tourism, conventions, and special events.
Essential Functions
Processes, reviews, and coordinates applications for various special events throughout the year within the City; solves problems, supervises permitting, and oversees application approval or denial.
2 Assists, supports, and works closely with the Manager of OSE to facilitate special events; communicates with clients, engages with council, problem solves ordinance challenges and client issues, communicates non-compliant issues with various clients and supervises staff facilitating events.
3 Reviews, evaluates, and issues special event permits, film permits, banner permits, and neighborhood farmer's market permits; ensures information is accurate for permit issuance.
4 Manages, supervises, and oversees the maintenance and updating of website information; coordinates all forms loaded onto the web, creates new and update documents, adjusts other critical information and ensures website is up to date with accurate data and support.
5 Writes, drafts, and copies traffic advisories, website information, and responses to public inquiries regarding special events and related activities; provides excellent customer service and supports the City's plan and mission.
6 Coaches, advises, counsels and instructs employees; identifies all training needs for employees; interviews and selects candidates for filling positions, recommends terminations, and authorizes overtime.
7 Reconciles, tracks, and monitors monthly finances for department and its activities; prepares monthly financial reports and balances; reviews revenues and expenditures and maintains accurate ledgers.
8 Coordinates and maintains accurate spreadsheets and data of all applications and special events within the City.
9 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge And Skills

2 Knowledge of City policies pertaining to Tourism, Conventions, and special events.
3 Knowledge of permitting process for special events.
4 Knowledge of computer systems and software for data management.
5 Ability to gather and process various applications.
6 Ability to maintain detailed spreadsheets and information pertaining to applicants.
7 Ability to supervise, lead, train, and support staff providing administrative, clerical, and technical work.
8 Ability to monitor finances and keep accurate ledgers.
9 Ability to provide excellent customer service.
10 Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
11 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 years of experience in any of the following:
- Contract Development/Management
- Purchasing/procurement
- Process analysis
- Auditing
- Report writing
- AP/AR
- Two (2) years of supervisory/management responsibilities. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)
- Bachelor’s degree in a business, public administration, or social science field plus two (2) years of the required experience and including the two (2) years of the stated supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Associate degree (or higher) in any field plus four (4) including the two (2) years of the stated supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in any field plus four (4) years of the required experience, including the two (2) years of the stated supervisory/management responsibilities, will meet the education and experience requirements.
