What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Improvement Subcommittee Member position at City of Dana Point?
Formed by City Council Resolution 09-01-26-02, subject to provisions of Chapter 2.06 of the Dana Point Municipal Code. Subcommittee Members serve a 4-year term.
The City of Dana Point Traffic Improvement Subcommittee has one (1) 4-year term open for application. In order to be eligible for appointment by City Council, applicants must be registered voters and residents of the City of Dana Point. Applications must be filed no later than 5:30PM on Monday, February 24, 2025.The duties of the Traffic Improvement Subcommittee shall be to work efficiently with staff to implement improvements, generally, as determined by the City Manager for:
(1) Traffic control devices on public streets, such as stop signs;
(2) Parking on public streets and property;
(3) Minor traffic calming measures, such as speed humps, in accordance with the City Traffic Management Policy;
(4) Public transportation access;
(5) Street sweeping;
(6) Traffic regulations relating to vehicular and bicycle safety;
(7) Concerns and complaints or requested studies that may be addressed to the Subcommittee by the City Council or City Manager.
The Subcommittee shall meet on an as needed basis, at the discretion of the City Council or the Director of Public Works, in consultation with the Chairman, but no more often than once per month. Audio of the meetings are recorded and published on the City’s YouTube channel.Unless otherwise specifically provided by law, or by Ordinance or Resolution of the City Council, all members of boards and commissions of the City shall, at all times during their incumbencies, be bona fide residents and be registered voters of the City. No member of any board or commission shall be a City employee, nor shall any person be a member of more than one (1) board or commission at any one (1) time.
Applicants must be registered voters and residents of the City of Dana Point. All Traffic Improvement Subcommittee meetings are subject to the Brown Act.
