Danbury Parks and Recreation is seeking enthusiastic and responsible Camp Counselors to work directly with campers aged 6-12 at our youth summer camps. Counselors will bring energy and creativity to daily activities, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. This role is perfect for individuals who love working with kids and thrive in a team-oriented, outdoor setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesCamper Supervision: Actively monitor and engage with a small group of campers, ensuring their safety, participation, and enjoyment throughout the day.
Activity Support: Assist in leading games, crafts, sports, and other camp activities under the direction of the Team Leader or Site Director.
Relationship Building: Foster positive connections with campers, encouraging teamwork, friendship, and inclusion among participants.
Behavior Management: Address minor camper conflicts or issues with patience and positivity, referring significant concerns to the Team Leader or leadership staff.
Safety Awareness: Follow all camp safety guidelines, including headcounts, activity rules, and basic first aid as needed.
Team Participation: Collaborate with fellow counselors and staff to support camp-wide events and maintain a cohesive, upbeat atmosphere.
Daily Assistance: Help with setup, cleanup, and transitions between activities, contributing to the smooth operation of the camp day.
Education & Experience: High school students (16 ) or graduates welcome; prior experience with children (e.g., babysitting, volunteering) is a plus but not required.
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to connect with kids and work as part of a team.
Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification preferred (training may be provided if needed).
Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors, participate in active play, and lift up to 15 lbs. as needed.
Background Check and Drug Screen: Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check .

Patience and adaptability when working with diverse personalities.
Eagerness to learn and take direction from camp leaders.
Passion for creating fun and memorable experiences for kids.
