The City of Danville Aquatics Center is seeking a responsible and enthusiastic Lifeguards to join our team.
Lifeguards must be able to perform rescue work, render CPR or emergency first aid and call for medical assistance if necessary. The lifeguard will supervise swimmers for safety and crowd control.
Normal Work Hours: Various hours, Sunday-Saturday, subject to change
Hourly Range: $15 - $16 per hour

Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be 16 years old and enrolled in High School.
- High School diploma or G.E.D. Certificate required for older applicants.
- Previous experience as a Lifeguard is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills: The following skills are basic to the functions of this position.
- Effective communication and people skills.
- Strong commitment to teamwork.
- Skills in the use and maintenance of pool equipment are desired.
- Dexterity to manage a person in the water who may panic or be unconscious.
- Understanding of and ability to enforce rigid safety regulations to ensure maximum protection of swimmers.
- Must enjoy working with children.
- Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Required Certifications: The person holding this position must be able to obtain the following certifications prior to performing work as a Lifeguard:
- Basic First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Lifeguard Certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following examples are illustrative of the work duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Perform rescue work.
- Render CPR or emergency first aid and call for medical assistance if necessary.
- Supervise swimmers for safety and crowd control.
- Enforce safety and pool regulations.
- Promptly report safety hazards to supervisor.
- Complete incident reports.
- Assist in maintaining routine documents and reports.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds in the pool area.
- Responsible for vacuuming, skimming and routine pool maintenance.
- Apply disinfectants to showers, floors, and decks.
- Check authorized patrons and collect usage fees, if applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Benefits: In accordance with Paid Leave for All Workers Act (PLAWA), part-time, seasonal, auxiliary and temporary employees (not hired through a temporary employment agency) will earn one (1) hour of paid leave for every forty (40) hours worked in a 12-month period, up to a maximum of forty (40) hours of paid leave in a 12-month period.
