Position Summary
The Demolitions Manager supervises and coordinates demolition operations to ensure compliance resolution and performs all necessary project reporting. This position schedules daily assignments, coordinates with contractors, secures properties, and manages the seasonal right-of-way and vacant lot mowing program.
Normal Work Hours: 6:30am to 4:30pm, Monday – Thursday, subject to change
Salary Range: $60,800 - $91,200
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent and have relevant knowledge and experience in related field. Certifications and/or specialized training preferred.
- Must have three (3) to five (5) years of like experience in this field or a closely related field, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, Excel, and Access.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, interest, and similar concepts.
- Be able to communicate effectively.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, schedule, and coordinate work, manage projects and must possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Be familiar with production analysis and standards and comfortable in challenging others to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Licenses: The following licenses are required within 30 days of hire:
- Illinois Class D Vehicle Operators License.
- Asbestos Project Supervisor Certification for Asbestos Accreditation under TSCA Title II.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as on-site contact for appropriate personnel communications and actions.
- Participates in organizing, scheduling, and delegating all work necessary to achieve maximum efficiency and other established goals. This includes on-site supervision of personnel and confirmation that all assigned work has been performed in an acceptable manner.
- Observes and acts on environmental violations in coordination with demolitions.
- Responsible for ensuring personnel and contractors comply with Departmental Rules and Regulations, safety procedures and the City of Danville Personnel Policy, to also include reporting non-compliance issues.
- Assists in addressing various citizen concerns regarding demolitions and mowing daily activities.
- Provides continuous “hands on” training to all personnel emphasizing safety, proper methods and use of equipment and exploration of ways to increase efficiency.
- Assists in providing all necessary protective equipment, instruction, and training to personnel in accordance with OSHA and Illinois Department of Labor requirements. Also maintains all reporting and documentation requirements of same.

Residency Requirements: Employees of the City must establish their principal residence within forty-five (45) miles of the City of Danville corporate limits within six months following successful completion of their probationary period.
