Job Overview
The Danville Police Department is a proactive law enforcement agency supported by its administration, city leaders, Council, and community. The Police Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and enforcing the law within the community. No experience or specialized schooling required prior to application. All candidates who are hired with the Danville Police Department will be paid to attend a Basic Law Enforcement Training Program before additional training at a department level.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting incidents, arrests, and other relevant information.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations, issuing citations as necessary.
- Engage with community members to build trust and foster positive relationships.
- Provide first aid assistance in emergency situations until medical personnel arrive.
Requirements
- Ability to pass a physical agility test, written test, interview, and psychological and medical testing.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one and be eligible to carry a firearm in the State of Illinois.
- Be 21 to 40 years of age at the beginning of Basic Law Enforcement training.
