The City of Danville Public Works Department is seeking a reliable and dependable person to perform garbage collections.
The ideal individual will safely operate a garbage truck to collect waste from residential areas, ensuring proper disposal and adherence to safety regulations.

Working Hours: 6:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Thursday, subject to change
Hourly Wage: $23.36
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of like experience.
- Possess a Class B CDL license or be able to obtain within the 90-working day probationary period.
- Effective communication skills.
- Safe driving record.
- Employees must live within five (45) miles of the Corporate City limits of Danville in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test and are subject to random drug/alcohol testing during employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and properly dispose of domestic household waste, landscape waste and special items.
- Check vehicle fluids daily.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs to Superintendent.
- Treat the public in a friendly courteous manner.
- Maintain trucks and other division equipment keeping the interior and exterior clean.
Probationary Period: New employees must serve a ninety (90) working-day probationary period. Successful completion of the probationary period is based on the employee's ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position as determined by the individual's supervisor and/or department head.
