Description
Seeking an Exercise Instructor that is certified in any of the following areas. ACE (American Council on Exercise), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) or AFAA (Athletics and Fitness Association) or a certification to teach exercise classes. Experience teaching a large exercise group. Class size adapted for specific needs and abilities (i.e.: seniors, intergenerational programs)
The purpose of this position is to organize and implement a variety of recreation programs. This is accomplished by planning activities ahead of time; setting up activities; leading activities; cleaning up after activities; providing additional administrative support; and maintaining a good public image. Other duties include advertising for activities; answering phones; collecting dues and programs; and assisting with other programs.

- Organizes and implements a variety of programs and activities specific to an area of focus by determining programs, facility, and schedule; reviewing program; gathering all materials and equipment needed; greeting participants; leading the activities; ensuring safety of participants; cleaning up; evaluating program effectiveness; preparing and submitting various reports and attendance sheets; maintaining inventory of equipment and materials; submitting evaluations of the program and the registration list; and assisting with administrative duties specific to the programs.
- Provides additional administrative support by supervising building and office; collecting statistics on participants; and assisting with activities outside personal expertise.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High School or GED with one to three years of experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record according to City Criteria
- First Aide Certification
- Documented experience or certification in specialized area
Job Knowledge
Intermediate knowledge to perform most work in normal situations. Comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.
Reading
Basic: Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words.
Writing
Basic: Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.
Math
Basic: Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Basic: Requires providing basic information to others outside direct reporting relationships on procedures or general policies. Contact may require the consideration of different points of view to reach understanding and gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
Independence and Decision-Making
Limited Direction: Normally performs the duty assignment according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically.

Basic: Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
