Definition
This position consists of an 8 ½ hour shift, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch, scheduled within the hours of 4 AM to 8 PM Monday through Friday and 7 AM to 8 PM on Saturdays. Shift assignments may vary based on operational needs, and overtime may be required as needed.
The City of Davenport offers a comprehensive benefit package. The cost for a family plan for medical, dental, vision and prescription is only $98.61 per month for 2025 and starts on first day of employment.

Examples Of Duties
- Acts as the primary point of communication between bus drivers, Fleet Maintenance, and Transit operations
- Helps to ensure timely and efficient operations across all scheduled routes
- Provides clear instructions and updates to bus drivers regarding route changes, delays, and operational issues
- Responds promptly to driver requests for assistance, troubleshooting, or information about routes and schedules
- Coordinates communication for incidents or emergencies involving buses, helping to ensure the safety of passengers, drivers and other road users
- Reports any accidents, vehicle breakdowns or safety concerns to Transit management and takes appropriate action to resolve issues
- Tracks and documents any changes, delays or incidents that affect bus service
- Maintains accurate records of all dispatch activities, including driver logs and incident reports
- Provides feedback to Transit management regarding service quality, driver performance or customer concerns
- Assists in the training of new bus drivers regarding effective communication expectations
- Provides excellent customer service to passengers, including answering questions regarding routes and time schedules for the Davenport Transit System as well as connecting lines through the Quad Cities metropolitan area
- May assist with shuttling Transit operators in City transport vehicle
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent, plus two (2) years of office or customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the required work in this position.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain throughout duration of employment.
Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening as prescribed by the City. NOTE: This position is subject to the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) Random Drug and Alcohol Testing program.
Must reside in Iowa or Illinois within two (2) years of hire and maintain residency throughout the duration of employment.
