What are the responsibilities and job description for the Learn to Skate Instructor position at City of Davenport?
Under the supervision of the Learn to Skate Coordinator, provide Figure Skating or Hockey instruction following the Learn to Skate USA Curriculum at the River’s Edge facility to which he/she is assigned. His/her personal conduct, attitude, and leadership must meet the highest of standards.
Entry Level Group Skating Instructor | $15-$16 per hour
Experienced Level Group Skating Instructor | $16-$17 per an hour

Implement on ice lesson plans specializing in assigned Learn to Skate sessions (example: Basic Skills, Hockey, Snowplow, Free skate, and Adult).
Arrive early on class days to assist with tasks before class.
Stay after each class to answer questions and provide information guidance to parents of participants.
Evaluate students on last day of class, complete required forms, and determine student placements.
Choreograph Learn to Skate participants in the annual skating show.
Establish and maintain relationships with associates, patrons and the general public.
Fill in for absent instructors on class days as necessary if not scheduled.
Entry Level Figure Skating Instructor Requirement:
Must have passed Learn to Skate USA Free Skate 4 or equivalent Program
Current or earn within 1 month of hiring: SafeSport Certificate
Current or earn within 1 month of hiring: Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification
Must be in good standing with US Figure Skating Association
Less than 5 years skating instruction experience
Coach Education Requirement for Coach/Choreographer Program through Professional Skaters Association
Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport
Experienced Level Figure Skating Instructor Requirements:
Must have passed Learn to Skate USA Free Skate 4 or equivalent Program
Current or earn within 1 month of hiring: SafeSport Certificate
Current or earn within 1 month of hiring: Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification
Must be in good standing with US Figure Skating Association
Instructed with River’s Edge Learn to Skate Program for at least 1 full year
More than 5 years skating instruction experience
