Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty doing responsible clerical work of considerable complexity and variety; and performs related work as required.

May answer the telephone extensively, handle routine calls, route calls or enter requests into a Customer Service System.
Receives, greets and directs visitors.
Performs complex work involving the use of computer applications.
Designs and organizes forms, reports, highly detailed statistical summaries, large volumes of detailed contracts and material specifications using Microsoft Office products.
Organize and maintain a variety of files and records alphabetically, chronologically or numerically; utilizes a knowledge of system parameters and attention to procedural and functional details to classify, up-date and file reports, literature, correspondence, surveys, records of activity, etc.
Posts data, figures and statistics from various sources to update records in software with appropriate training; able to compute totals manually or using spreadsheet; itemizes variances in activities; prepares periodic reports to summarize activities; records and posts payroll data and personnel records.
Supports and performs the distribution process of communication to citizens and customers.
Operates a variety of office machines in the performance of complex or technical work.
May record or take minutes of meetings.
May assist in the training process for new employees. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Two (2) years of diversified office clerical work or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the required work in this position.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain throughout duration of employment.
Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.
Must reside in Iowa or Illinois within two (2) years of hire and maintain residency throughout the duration of employment.Considerable Knowledge of:
Using a multi-line phone system, if applicable;
Accessing, inputting and retrieving information from a computer;
English grammar, spelling and basic arithmetic.
Good Knowledge of:
Modern office practices and procedures.
Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Considerable skill in:
Customer service;
Following oral and written instructions;
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with associates and the public.
Working Skill in:
Operation of office machines and equipment including copier, printer, scanner and facsimile;
Learning different applications for data entry and retrieval in current work order management and customer service software with appropriate training.
Starting pay | $19.45 per hour 6 Months $19.90 per hour
Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the written exam to be administered on May 2, 2025.
