City of Davenport AmeriCorps Program Position
Living Allowance: $16,000
Education Award: $5,176.50
1200 hours. Minimum of 29 hours per week. Member anticipated service schedule Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am – 7pm. Member will flex their service hour schedule as necessary. This service position requires an individual with flexibility and the ability/willingness to work evenings and weekends regularly. Member may serve other days/times as needed and agreed upon in advance.
Position Specifics:
1) Process parent/guardian inquiries
o Respond to prospective parent/guardian calls, emails, or web inquiries regarding involvement with BBBS and ensure that all such inquiries receive prompt and informative responses
o Guide prospective parents/guardians from the point of first contact (inquiry) to active enrollment (interview)
o Identify and work to eliminate any barriers that could interfere with the initial enrollment process for children
o Obtain preliminary contact information, schedule enrollment interviews and send enrollment forms and program information to prospective parents/guardians
o Track and maintain recurring contact with prospective parents/guardians and volunteers who have not yet begun the enrollment process
o Enter all inquiries and pertinent data into the BBBS Match Management System, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
2) Support Enrollment Team to process volunteer enrollments
o Conduct personal/professional reference calls for enrollment and bring any concerns that may influence the enrollment process to the attention of Enrollment staff
o Conduct criminal history checks for active enrollments and bring any concerns that may influence the enrollment process to the attention of Enrollment staff
3) Supporting outreach to external partners
o While conducting reference calls for enrollment, promote the BBBS match program
o Conduct outreach to community partners and schools for child recruitment and referrals
o As a part of the BBBS team, answer and route incoming phone calls
4) Manage and update child waiting list
o Contact parents/guardians of youth on the waiting list to ensure information on file is up to date and accurate
o Create and send monthly newsletter to parents/guardians of youth on the waiting list
5) Attend Match Activities and Enhancements
o Attend match anniversary celebrations two times per year to meet and connect with program participants
o Attend major annual match/family events
- 4 per year – Spring into Adventure, Friendsgiving, Putt-a-Round Match Night, and Annual Picnic
o Attend a minimum of 6 match activities outside of major events within the service term
- Average of 48 activity options throughout the year
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
· Background in the field of education, recreation, human service, or related field
· Experience working with children and families preferred
Eligibility Criteria:
· Certify that they have or will obtain a diploma/GED before the service contract start date
· Be 17 years or older at the start of service (no upper age limit)
· Pass a national service criminal history check prior to first day of service
· Hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US national, or Lawful Permanent Resident
