Job Summary:
The Utility Billing Specialist handles the activities involved in the daily operations of the water-billing department. This position is not considered a safety-sensitive position.
Specific Duties:
- Assists with preparing water, sewer, and garbage billings monthly
- Collects payments for water, sewer, and garbage bills
- Corrects customer's accounts when readings are determined to be inaccurate
- Prepares late notices
- Prepares disconnect list for non-payment of accounts
- Reviews invoices monthly from Frontier Waste to ensure accuracy of billing
- Serves as point of contact with Frontier Waste to resolve customer account problems
- Prepares regulatory reports for various regulatory agencies
- Prepares various monthly reports
- Performs other related duties as required
Essential Functions:
- Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written communications
- Ability to operate commercial telephones, and a two-way radio
- Ability to use office equipment including calculator, copier, fax machine, computer, printer, etc.
- Ability to remain seated for long periods of time
- May be required to carry, hold, lift, pull, or push items or supplies with a maximum weight of 35 pounds
Required Education, Degrees, Certificates, and/or Licenses:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience processing utility bills for a municipality or water district preferred but not required
- Basic computer knowledge using Word, Excel, and a utility billing/ accounts receivable software
- Experience dealing with the public and with cash handling
- Bilingual preferred but not required

A combination of education and experience that indicates a level of skill and knowledge necessary to fulfill the duties of this position may be considered in lieu of the education and experience requirements listed above.
