Responsibilities
The Water Utility Supervisor oversees the functions involved with repair, maintenance and installation of the Water Utility assets (wastewater collection, storm sewer, flood control and water distribution systems). The incumbent maintains documentation related to operations, maintenance, costs, personnel time and work units produced and recommends needed improvements and repairs to the water utility assets and equipment. On a daily basis, uses applicable computer software as it relates to performance management and asset management programs implemented by the City, Department and / or Division. Water Utility Supervisors ensure continued compliance with all applicable local, state and federal permit requirements related to municipal water, wastewater, and storm water operations. Must be available 24 hours a day during scheduled on-call periods.
Minimum Qualifications
Must meet one of the following :
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of experience in the construction, operations and maintenance of a public or private water, wastewater and / or storm water system; OR
- Associate's degree in a related field and 4 years of experience in the construction, operations and maintenance of a public or private water, wastewater and / or storm water system; OR
- High school diploma or G.E.D. and 6 years of experience in the construction, operations and maintenance of a public or private water, wastewater and / or storm water system (3 of the 6 years of experience must be at a crew leader level or above).
Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
Certifications
At time of appointment, must possess and maintain as a condition of continued employment, EITHER an Ohio EPA Class II Wastewater Collection Operator certification OR an Ohio EPA Class II Water Distribution Operator certification.
License Requirements
At time of appointment, must possess and maintain, as a term and condition of continued employment, a valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver’s License (C.D.L.) with a Tanker Endorsement, including the qualification to operate a vehicle with air brakes and any other endorsements required by the State of Ohio. Out of state residents must have equivalent licenses from their state of residence.
Special Requirements
Within 24 months of appointment, must possess and maintain as a condition of continued employment, BOTH an Ohio EPA Class II Wastewater Collection Operator certification AND an Ohio EPA Class II Water Distribution Operator certification. Within 12 months of appointment, must complete a 40-hour Health and Safety training course in accordance with 29 CFR 1910 and undergo 8 hours of recertification annually, including physical condition monitoring, as a condition of continued employment.
Salary : $71,365 - $95,930
