Description
Purpose
The purpose of this classification under the direct supervision of the Police Financial Manager is to locate, apply, coordinate and maintain grants for the police department. Performs related work as required.Education; Training and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice; Law Enforcement; Public Administration; or related field preferred; supplemented by two (2) years' experience in police grant origination; administration or related function.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Locate grant funding opportunities.
Develop documents submit grant applications.
Maintain coordinate and administer grants.
Meet performance reporting requirements and operational needs.
Coordinate specifications purchasing and implementation of personnel and equipment under grant requirements.
Maintain computerized tracking system which identifies grant records of all grant applications status and awards.
Assist Police Financial Manager in preparing budgets and other specialized reports.
Reviews and recommends grant decisions and actions.
Works with and coordinates grants for the Daytona Beach Police Department.
Establishes regular contact with the accreditation specialist to support all grant standards set forth in CFA and CALEA (when applicable).
Establishes regular contact with the City Finance Department to support all grant standards set forth in City Ordinance and City Policy (when applicable).
Conducts briefings as needed with the Command staff regarding the operational progress of grants.
Participates in staff functions at the Agency level.
