This position is responsible for performing and/or leading the installation, operation, and maintenance of all equipment and systems of an assigned area. Responsibilities may include scheduling work; responding to inquiries; and maintaining systems as well as overseeing and guiding the team.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Schedules staff to perform skilled operation, maintenance and repair. Acts as a lead worker to employees in lower classifications.
- Responds to complaints and/or inquiries.
- Installs, operates, and maintains all equipment and operating systems; operates and maintains service and distribution systems; operates and maintains all facilities.
- Orders supplies and maintains inventory.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperatures.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Associate’s degree and 3 years of related experience; or, all required certification(s) and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver’s License Class A with endorsements as required by state law
- Competent Person/Excavation Safety Trenching and Shoring Certification
- Work Zone Safety Certificate
- Confined Space Certification
POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS:
- Satisfactory completion of DOT medical examination, driving record check, and criminal background check prior to start date.
- All appointees are subject to a one-year probationary period.
