PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: Camp Dearborn, Milford, Michigan
HOURS/PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a year-round, part time position working for the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department at Camp Dearborn. April thru November - 24hour/7 day operation. Must work evenings, weekends and holidays. Part-time position working up to 28 hours per week.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Working under the supervision of the Facility Coordinator of Camp Dearborn, the employee interacts in a consistently pleasant and helpful manner with fellow employees, guests, and customers. Employee will be responsible for communicating daily tasks, filing incident reports, scheduling and coordinating the work of seasonal and other part-time staff in their areas of relation. The employee will function as a recreational programmer focused on executing new and existing activities, events and programs at Camp Dearborn. This employee will handle customer concerns while projecting a positive image of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to set-up and organize details of special events and recreational programs that may include working with event sponsors, other City of Dearborn departments, and other organizations.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, and to demonstrate initiative in performance of the work.
- Ability to follow established departmental procedures, learn new tasks and adapt to operational changes readily.
- Ability to communicate in a diplomatic and effective manner, including the ability to flex styles to match the audience and to convey complex information to requestors and participants in the recreational and hospitality settings.
- Written communications skills, including the ability to draft basic, professional correspondence.
- Ability to manage and meet several deadline projects simultaneously.
- Ability to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance as scheduled, including flexibility in scheduling to support programs scheduled in the evenings, on weekends or on holidays.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to follow through with task completion.
- Must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office and Google workspace.
- Must have experience with Campspot software programs.
- Must have experience coordinating schedules and daily tasks of part-time personnel.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have at least three years of experience working at Camp Dearborn or equivalent type of recreation facility.
- Must possess a valid driver license.
- Must submit to a criminal history check and pre-employment physical/drug screen.
