GENERAL PURPOSE
This professional position assists the Membership Services Supervisor with the planning, direction, and management of the work of full-time and part-time employees. This position will primarily be overseeing membership services as they pertain to the Dow Active Complex, including but not limited to membership sales, promotions and retention, monthly membership drafts, membership accounts, customer service and child watch services.

Works under the general guidance and direction of the Membership Services Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Assists with the supervision of full and part-time staff, contract staff, and volunteers. May be responsible for filling in for the Membership Services Supervisor in their absence or as other duties assigned.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates employees, contract staff and volunteers.
2. Assists with overseeing recreation staff as assigned.
3. Effective communication with staff on Department and Division goals, objectives and policies and procedures.
4. Understand and successfully operate recreation software and website management.
5. Assist in preparing and administering budget for the Dow Active Complex.
6. Assist in developing, implementing and review yearly policies and procedures for Dow Active Complex.
7. Assist with various administrative duties within the Dow Active Complex.
8. Assist with preparing year-end participation and financial reports.
9. Assist with the evaluation and implementation of program fees.
10. Provides training on quality customer service to staff within the Dow Active Complex.
11. Develops and implements operations to prevent injuries and accidents according to department guidelines, and according to health regulations.
12. Assess quality of customer service for assigned activities through the distribution and evaluation of participant surveys. Develop and implement methods for improvement.
13. Maintain adequate inventory and upkeep of equipment used in the operation of assigned programs.
14. Assists Fleet Maintenance division with the scheduling of maintenance of Division commercial vehicles.
15. May be required to attend City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission Meetings.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
1. Assist administration as needed.
2. Serves as a member of the Emergency Operations Center.
3. Develop and make presentations to community groups.
4. Liaison between Divisions and other Departments as assigned.
5. Serves as a member of various city and community committees as assigned.
6. Active membership in TRAPS, NRPA and other professional organizations related to responsibility.
Qualifications
Necessary Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations and make proper judgments as to the correct course of action.
- Computer skills expected (Excel, Word, and Internet Explorer, Recreation software, etc.)
- Knowledge of principles of effective administration, to include planning, coordinating, hiring, evaluating and supervision.
- Knowledge and principles and practices in public relations, marketing, and promoting membership promotions.
- Knowledge of summer camp or youth programming and implementation. Knowledge of report and record maintenance principles and procedures.
- Skills in both written and oral communications for effective expression and clarity. Ability to train quality customer service and team building.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations.
- Ability to respond promptly to citizen input/complaints with considerable tact and courtesy.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and be able to develop alternative solutions. Ability to identify, train, and manage programs and staff that are inclusive for all participants.
- Ability to be creative and manage difficult or emotional customer situations.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with established City policies and procedures.
- Ability to analyze, organize, evaluate and review work for efficient results and accuracy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or related field, or 4 years’ experience in customer service
- Preferred experience in membership sales, promotions and retention
- Certifications in CPR/First Aid//AED within 90 days of hire on.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required or ability to obtain one.
- Position works Monday – Friday, evenings and weekends as scheduled by the Membership Services Supervisor. Hours are normally 8 am – 5 pm, however schedule may change at the discretion of the Membership Services Supervisor. Some travel may be required.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
- Office equipment i.e.; personal computer, fax machine, telephone, copy machines, portable radio, etc. Vehicles to include trucks, vans and buses, some with the standard shift transmission.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk and hear. The employee is required to use hands, fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. May also be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to work outdoors in above average heat and cold as situations require. The employee may occasionally lift or move 50 pounds. Specific vision responsibilities required.
- While doing the work duties required of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals.
