The purpose of this position is to assist the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the planning and organization of the Information Technology Services Department and manage daily operations and support of the ERP system. This position also assists in the strategic plans, policies, programs, and schedules for business and financial reporting, and management information services to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.Assists with Directing all City technology projects to ensure they meet the business needs of the City and fit into the current architecture.Develops, establishes, and implements goals and objectives that are consistent with the City’s strategies and the CIO’s Department strategies.Manages all technology purchases City-wide; responsible for all cost containment efforts related to information technology.Assist with the Preparation and management of the City’s technology budgets.Communicates and builds productive and cordial relationships with technical and non-technical staff and internal and external customers.Designs, documents and delivers targeted training to department directors/heads, administrators, managers, and supervisors relating to enterprise software and ERP module usage.Manages user privileges for various City enterprise software and for department specific software which connect to the network. Consults with the CIO and provides information technology recommendations for innovation, security and software improvements/upgrades.Stays current with technology advances, trends, and issues; evaluates risks, relevance, and usefulness.Recommends policy for and evaluates alternative configurations and selection of advanced automation equipment and software.Manages City-wide Knowledge Management (KM) for department central enterprise architecture, information management and records management programs.Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Knowledge and good understanding of the City operations supported by the Information Technology department. Skill in integrating all aspects of an assigned project, complex and/or multiple projects. Ability to set priorities. Ability to coordinate and manage activities of unit to meet project timeliness. Ability to use comprehensive knowledge and competency at the highest technical level. Ability to communicate at all levels, conceptual thinking, and the ability to lead projects to conclusion. Skills in formal systems development, life cycle processes and project management. Demonstrated experience in enterprise programming architectures and solutions.
