JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Airport Operations Manager, this position performs a wide array of advanced clerical tasks, including administration, finance, and accounting; these tasks require the application of independent judgment and office management knowledge. Work involves standard clerical duties including record keeping, billing and invoicing, answering phones, typing, filing, office machine operation, maintenance of records, and verifying information accuracy and completeness of various forms, computer databases, applications, reports, and documents. Also performs high level administrative support by assuring smooth daily operations of the City of DeFuniak Springs Airport front desk/reception area which includes receiving visitors, scheduling meetings, and dealing with the public. Works with considerable independence within the scope of duties. Position requires discretion and diplomatic skill in representing policies and working effectively with the pubic, elected officials and airport operations personnel. Typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Subject to be called in on a holiday or during an emergency situation.

- Knowledge of modern office techniques, procedures and practices.
- Knowledge and experience with Enterprise Systems Software including accounting modules.
- Skilled in dealing with customers and ability to handle stressful situations.
- Skilled in cash handling with accuracy and promptness.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with employees, Department Directors, other governmental agency representatives, City Officials, and the public.
- Ability to learn complex tasks and remember how to complete tasks without assistance once trained.
- Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly.
- Ability to communicate with the public pleasantly both in person and by telephone.
- Ability to work harmoniously with a diversity of individuals both inside and outside the City offices.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines and possess strong organizational skills, including attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, or career development.
- Ability to obtain Florida Notary of the Public.
- Ability to obtain National Air Transportation Association (NATA) Customer Service Representative Training.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment based on department needs, City Council directives, and cost effectiveness.
- Ability to produce clear and concise verbal and written reports.
- Ability to learn the City ordinances as they relate to the Airport.
- Ability to use specified computer applications involving word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, and standard report generation.
- Ability to establish successful working relationships.
- Ability to exercise considerable tact and courtesy in contact with the general public.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Required Qualification(s):
High school diploma or GED required. A progressively demonstrated skill of at least three (3) years experience and aptitude for performing responsible clerical work. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs and accounting system software. Requires a valid driver license.
Preferred/Desirable Qualification(s):
An associate degree or better, in accounting or general business is preferred. A progressively demonstrated skill and aptitude for performing accounting work. Prior FBO and/or governmental experience. CPA desirable. A preferred typing speed of 35 w.p.m. or better.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
