The City of DeKalb is looking to fill a part-time, on-site role for a Police Evidence Custodian located in DeKalb, IL. The Evidence Custodian performs manual and clerical work in the receipt, storage and release of found, stolen and confiscated property and evidence impounded by the Police Department or other law enforcement agencies. This position will require a high level of discretion, the ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to new technologies and work under minimal supervision.
This position will work 15-20 hours per week. The starting rate for the position is $25.34 per hour. The full salary range is $25.34 - $39.07 per hour. This position does not offer any benefits.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in law enforcement, criminal investigations or related field strong desired.
- Knowledge of evidence handling procedures and maintaining chain-of-custody.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in law enforcement or criminal justice a plus.
- Property & Evidence management certification preferred.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to become LEADS certified within 6 months of hire.
